When someone doesn’t have a job and cannot feed their family, nothing else matters.

I have spoken to many employers eager to create jobs but unable to do so because of the burdens placed upon them by state government.

As your State Senator, this will be my number one focus.
In all my years of government service, I have
never voted for a tax increase and have always supported tax cuts.
Cutting taxes is necessary to create jobs and get
Property taxes should not be going up when property values are going down.
As State Representative, I opposed Gov. Granholm’s property, income and business tax increases. The job-killing MBT and MBT surcharge must be eliminated.
As your State Senator I’ll continue fighting for lower taxes.
The condition of Michigan's roadways is vital to our economy.
Over the last several decades, fixing our roads has become too large of a burden on Michigan citizens. Increasing taxes on gasoline is not the solution to this problem.
Picking the taxpayer's pocket is never the solution for government problems.
The over arching reach of
our state's labor laws, prevailing wage laws and environmental
regulations needlessly drive up the cost of building and repairing
our roads. These issues
need to be reformed and eliminated to ensure that Michigan's
taxpayers get the full value of their tax dollars spent.
In addition, we must do a better job of getting federal tax dollars for road construction. Currently, Michigan receives only .92 cents of every federal gas tax dollar that we send to Washington.
Michigan's taxpayers should
not be expected to pay for the infrastructure in other states when
our roads are crumbling.
It is time to fix the failing infrastructure in Michigan.
As your State
Senator I will fight for better roads in Michigan.
Lansing is claiming that, in order to reduce our state budget, we need to release felons early and allow them back on our streets.
This is false. Once released these inmates are more likely to commit crimes again.
Local prosecutors throughout Michigan are rightfully concerned that these inmates will simply end up back in our county jails, shifting the cost of their incarceration to our counties.
We must take a hard look at the top heavy
bureaucracy of the Department of Corrections.
Privatizing many of the services performed in prisons,
including food service and medical care, can save our state millions
of dollars. As State Representative, I supported these common sense
cost saving measures.
Until these measures are
taken, we must not let out a single felon.
As your State Senator I will fight to keep our communities safe.
